Dr. Jessica Cowan (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist in Washington (PY61101055) and Arizona (PSY-005353). She provides an individualized approach, grounded in evidence-based interventions and the power of authentic human connection to help translate her client's therapy goals into meaningful and transformative action. 

 

She enjoys working with adolescents and adults who are seeking therapy for a variety of concerns, including treatment for specific concerns like eating disorders or generalized anxiety - or individuals who are looking for a warm, collaborative, authentic space to bring their day-to-day concerns, explore personal growth, and cultivate self-awareness. 

Education and Training

Dr. Cowan has a doctorate degree in clinical psychology (PsyD) from Antioch University Seattle, an American Psychological Association-accredited program. She completed pre-doctoral clinical training in Primary Care Behavioral Health at Swedish Medical Group, University of Washington's Disability Resource Center, and Arizona State University's Counseling Services and Primary Care Behavioral Health Clinics. In addition to generalist training, she completed specialty training in the assessment and outpatient treatment of eating disorders and common comorbid concerns (including OCD and anxiety) as a post-doctoral fellow at the Eating Disorder Center at Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle. She also has prior experience working in residential treatment for adolescents and adults with eating disorders. 

 

Dr. Cowan is formally trained in the use of evidence-based treatments including CBT, CBT-E, CBT-AR, ICAT, DBT, AFT, Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE; and SPACE for ARFID and Failure to Launch), ERP, and she is certified in Family Based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders by the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders.  Dr. Cowan is also a family based treatment (FBT) consultant for Equip and clinical supervisor for the University of Washington Psychology Department. She is co-author of The Strength-Based Clinical Supervision Workbook: A Complete Guide for Mental Health Trainees and Supervisors (Heffner & Cowan, 2022).
